To quote a movie " This is going to get out of control and we"ll be lucky to survive it."

Dont expect much difference here in possum holler but this could get ugly out yonder in big city land.

Cut and pasted off another forum.
I dont think I could have worded this better.
It was too good to pass up.

President Trump is being broadly criticized, from both the right and the left, for tweeting, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts.” Classic Trump, and honestly, the side of him I do not like. He is far too quick to engage in juvenile antics when presidential leadership would better serve both him and the country. This is a painful time for America, and his juvenile tweets are hurting, not helping.

Okay, got that off my chest. But from a more dispassionate perspective, we actually do have a history of shooting looters in this country (just like other countries do). The textbook example is the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Both local and federal forces were given full authorization to kill looters, and estimates are between a dozen to 100 looters will killed as a result.

Another example. In 1913 the San Antonio River flooded central Texas. With consequent evacuations the looters swept in, and that resulted in an order issued by the Texas Rangers: “Shoot all looters, and shoot to kill.”

Also noteworthy: On the day that MLK was shot and killed in 1968, Mayor Daly of Chicago issued this proclamation against rioters: “…shoot to kill any arsonist . . . because they’re potential murderers, and to issue a police order to shoot to maim or cripple any arsonists and looters. Arsonists to kill, and looters to maim.” Mayor Daly’s office received plenty of mail about that proclamation (snail mail back in the day) and reported that it was 15-to-1 in favor of shooting looters.

Everything changed with the 1985 supreme court case of Tennessee v. Garner. Since then, deadly force by police can only to be used when a fleeing felon (and by extension a looter) poses a threat of violence.

It is also noteworthy that civilians “loot,” but when the exact same thing happens by military personnel it is called “pillaging.” Under international law/treaties, pillaging is a war crime(reference: the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949).

#8 steel shot, aimed low, to maximize the chance of the molotov thrower drops the thing on himself and sets himself on fire.

IMO It will settle down, and things will return to whatever is normal.

"the new normal" from the pandemic or "the new new normal" from the ensuing civil disturbances?

'fraid either one is going to be tedious to live with...

Have you noticed that the riots are taking place mostly in Democrat controlled cities with hand picked police chiefs and city attorneys that wont prosecute bad cops? Do you think there might be a correlation or is it just coincidence? Have you also noticed that rioters and looters get out of jail with no bond while anyone who defends himself gets hit with high bail?

Copied from a friend. Pretty much sums it up. I do know there are legitimate reasons for protesting peacefully. This paragraph is just giving a broader view, a big picture.

These are not my words, but the very precisely describe the feelings that I am having during this chaos.

Scare people with a virus. Place them in quarantine. Count the number of dead every second of every day in every news headline. Close all businesses. 40,000,000 out of jobs. Peak unemployment. Remove entertainment: parks, gyms, bars, restaurants, sports. No dating. No touching. Mask people. Dehumanize them. Close temples and churches. Create a vacuum. Let depression and anxiety and desperation set in.
Then... ignite hatred and civil war. Civil unrest. Empty the prisons because of the virus and fill the streets with criminals. Send in Antifa to vandalize property as if they are freedom fighters. Undermine the law. Loot. Attack law enforcement but tell government to order a stand-down. We are all being baited by adversarial governments who want to destroy America - China, Iran, Russia. Have the Far Left abuse the racial wars to fuel the fires. And, in an election year, have Democrats blame all of it on the President.
Can’t take America in a war, destroy it from within.
We are being conditioned, manipulated, and programmed by multiple agendas as never before.....time to DO OUR OWN RESEARCH and MAKE UP OUR OWN MINDS rather than eating everything being spoon-fed to us!

So the far left organised a police officer to kill a black person and it be videoed, so they could ignite hatred and civil war. Sounds like tinfoil hat time, a bit like the invasion of people from south America carrying back packs full of guns that were going to over run the border and invade America.

Not necessarily, just have a paid staff of agitators waiting to be called upon when the next "crisis" occurs, then act so it does not go to waste.

Or people could just be angry at what happened, and are protesting. Its not unusual for peaceful protests to be hijacked by people with other motives.

It takes resources to "hijack" a protest and make it go nationwide. Who pays for the secure communication equipment, the police scanners to monitor police activity, etc.?

Just my hypothesis, but the death of George Floyd was on Monday, it was the following weekend before protests started. A purely "organic" protest would have occurred Tuesday or maybe Wednesday. The germinating seeds of protest were fertilized and watered by forces that did not participate directly.

note page 13 of 26. a 26 page contract to do crimes. they had riot kits prepared and staged in major cities, with literal contract rioters on retainer.

LE has copies of most pages of this document.
