    I have an AMT 1 of 1000 #0232 Combat 5" version like that. It is in a box like that and has never been fired. I've had it nearly 25 years. Just dug it out to look at it, It's pretty sweet!!

    Didn't he "Hardballer" get that name because it refused to shoot anything but FMJ ammo?

    What made it so special then if it was such a picky, raised-nose snob of a gun? I'm assuming it had some qualities that outweighed its drawbacks?

    A "hardball" gun is one set up to shoot full power 230 gr. FMJ in CMP competition.

    The term probably originated with Bullseye Competition.

    I only shoot ball ammo through my 1911s. I'd love to own that sexy pistol. The longslide looks great! I think if the dust cover went the full length of the slide it would literally make me swoon.

    the bid is up over a grand...i had a chance to buy one nib for $500 but i didn't have the cash for it and now it's gone :(
