A while back I decided to consolidate calibers as much as was reasonably possible. At one point I had many more firearms and way too many calibers for practical considerations. I can no longer afford to be a collector, so all of my weapons are shooters, not safe queens. (although I miss some of those beauties ;)) As I've had to divest myself of some, or actually most of those firearms, my ammunition requirements have been drastically reduced.

I'm also thinking that if there's a SHTF situation, I want to keep it simple.

    Here's what I now stock:

    .30-06
    .22LR
    .45 ACP
    .38
    .357 Magnum
    .12 GA.

    How about you?

Yeah, I have already done this also. I am down to the following calibers. I sold a lot of stuff off. (sniff-sniff) but had to.

    .22lr
    38/357
    30-30
    12ga

Unless something comes up that is a real steal, I am only trying to consider buying anything that falls into these calibers. And I have pleanty of ammo in these calibers already.

CA- for pity's sake man! I have more reloading dies that THAT!

Anyway, how would I ever tell my SMLEs or Moisin Nagants that they did not make the cut? And I have had that little Colt 1903 .32 Auto for over 20 years. And the K-31 is the only rifle I am likely to have in 7.5 Swiss, but Lord how it reaches out there....

I too am limited to what firearms I can purchase and what I can afford to feed. I can reload all the calibers I currently have but pick up factory loads when I find a good price.

I'd like to add .223 and may go back to .40 S&W as well because of availiability. ;)

I've been stocking food and making other preps for a number of years. Now I'm going back through things and making improvements and culling some stuff.

My ammo consolidation was initially forced by financial circumstances, but now I've gotten into it and am stocking fewer calibers. It gives me a more manageable objective.

    Mine is very limited

Stalkingbear...I didn't see any consolidation in your list at all! Your home must be a Cabela's, only you actually have ammo in stock!

I have decided to keep to a very limited amount of calibers. I'm new at this, so I've only got 3 firearms.

    9mm Luger
    12-gauge

When I branch to the next caliber (my plan is .45 or .40), I'll purchase a full-size pistol, a carry pistol, and a pistol-caliber carbine in that same caliber. Eventually, I'll add .22lr and .223.

Simpler is better for me right now.

    You and me both bro...

I, too, am currently limited to:

    9x19
    12-gauge
(with my old 20-gauge shortly to be in my possession)

Things I would like to add:

    .22
.223/5.56 NATO (man oh man I'd love an AR)
7.62 x 39 (man oh man I'd love an AK)
    .308 (for larger long-range threats)
    .357
    .45

That IS after the consolidation! You notice that all but 1 of my rifles are the same diameter?
