Figured I would see how it's looking out there ammo wise? Anyone been to gats, bass pro, cabelas? Have not been able to get up there yet. Mainly looking for cci 22lr and 30-30. Are the shelves empty like all the reports say? Thanks!

I haven't been to GAT since early December. But their ammo shelves were pretty full then.

I went into Cabelas this morning to get some stuff and asked about CCI Minimag stock the guy behind the counter told me they put 500 boxes on the shelf this morning and they were gone in just minutes. I think the good thing is they are shipping, the bad thing is the people that are hoarding. This is in Oregon

The Cabelas here in Hoffman Estates is pretty bare. I did not see any .22lr. They did have lots of 9mm and a fair amount of other hand gun calibers. GAT still has a really good stock of everything. They have raised there prices some but not like others i have seen.

    I paid $25 for a box of .45 and that's no typo!!

Went to the Walmart in wheeling and bare shelves. Got the last box of 30-30. No 22lr but a bunch of short. Sucks!

Call GAT first. They've usually been able to hold inventory at mostly reasonable prices as that's usually where I buy (or Wallyworld), but I haven't checked 22lr.

Well I know I don't mind paying a little more but not going to get raped. I am low but not out! I can find 22 ammo but not what works well with my damn sig. Should have bought a ruger! Lol

Birds n Brooks in Springfield, Illinois has a pretty good stock for walk ins and even more for regular customers. He has been laying back a pretty good supply for several years, so he has plenty.

.22 costs almost as much to buy now as 9mm.

I see 22lr starting to pop up here and there now. I can't help but shake my head at gun auctions and gun shows, watching folks overpay for 22lr; sometimes as much as center fire ammunition. Another month or so and things will settle down.

Was at Cabelas in Hoffman estates and they had about 50 or 60 boxes of .22lr mini mags. $8.99 a box. They also had some .223 and 5.56, $9.99 and $10.99 respectively. Limit 2 on the .22and a total of 5 combined on all other ammo. .45 acp was a little high at $34.99 for PMC. Looks like inventory may be coming back or i was there at the right time.
