ammo shock

    so most of you know twist rates vs bullet weights. well my buddy was testing several different brands of ammo the other day. had one that shot like crap out of his rifle. he has a 1/8 twist. so i tried it out of my 1/9 twist knowing that it would probly be even worse. the ammo to be used was fiocchi 77gr 223. well i will post the pic when im back home but. it did the best ive seen my wifes rifle shoot so far. i was shocked. maybe from a 1/7 barrel i would expect this but not a 1/9.

    Not all barrels are the same. Manufacture quality has a lot to do with accuracy. Individual skill has the most to do with how accurate a rifle is shooting.

    My bcm is a 1-7 twist and it shoots just a scootch over 1 inch with 55grn ammo at 100yds. Take it out to 300 and its 10inch groups.

    My rra national match 1-8 twist shoots 3 inch groups with 55grn at 100yds. Put some 69grn smk in there and its shooting 1 hole groups same distance.

    Each individual gun will like certain ammo at certain ranges over others. The twist rate is just a guideline at where you can start seeing what shoots best. Just in general a faster twist will tend to shoot heavier bullets better than the same bullet in a slower twist but its not set in stone.

    And so you know it's not just the shooter as a factor. Both of these were same rifle at 50 yards w 55 gr. One is mine the other my wifes
