Keep it dry and at a stable temperature and it will last forever.

Stored in Army ammo cans in a cool, dry place; that ammo is good for at least 70 years. Talked recently with my godson who is a Special Forces trooper. In Afghanistan his unit was issued .50 caliber ammo made in 1953. Stuff fired like it was made yesterday.

Stored in a cool, dry place, we don't know HOW long it will last.

That is because the US began using non-corrosive primers (lead azide) in the mid 1950's- and it is still good. We have not gotten to the point that it goes bad. So I will just say 60 yrs and counting.

Take your current age, add 60 yrs, and then ask why you have not been shooting in 60 yrs (Hey- you still got the ammo- means you did not shoot it up- right?:p)

I shot US 30-06 from the 40's and German 8mm from the late 30's without any problems.
