    AMMO Dirty or Clean Burning:

I am very new to guns and ammo :D

Is their a difference in Ammo brands such as one would dirty up your rifle faster than a cleaner burning brand.
This is what I have, and if one burns dirtier that the other when used up I will not buy that brand any more. This is for the 223 caliber.

Brands I am specifically asking about.

    Remington UMC
    Fiocchi
    Ultramax

I shoot mostly reloads, but can say that for my rifles I haven't noticed a difference in cleaning requirements regardless of powder/bullet/primer combination.

In my experience, Federal ammo is dirty and Blazer ammo is filthy. I shoot Remington every now and then and I seems to run a LITTLE cleaner than Federal, but is not worth the extra price in my opinion.

I always buy dirty ammo for plinking, because I get cheaper stuff and cheaper usually means dirty.I've never had one malfuntion with Federal, I've had about 6 with Remington. (Not UMC though)

If you shoot a well maintained, quality gun, it doesn't matter.:)

Amen. Even if it's a low quality gun.
