This bill was submitted HB 735 2011-2012 Regular Session .

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Code Section 16-11-129 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to license to carry a weapon and temporary renewal permit, so as to provide for training as a prerequisite for a weapons carry license; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

This, in itself, isn't bad. Training should be a part of the license to carry.

That may be a really good thing. It will help conscientious permitee's to avoid questionable situations, and help them know where they stand in terms of the law. Also, South Carolina and Georgia have never honored each other's permits because of Georgia's lack of a requirement for training. Maybe now they'll recognize each other's permits, so a resident of one state doesn't have to stop at the state line and unload, disassemble, and store his gun before crossing the state line.

Agreed. I live in Illinois, i'll trade places with GA any day of the week. I'll gladly pay for a training class to have the privilege of paying for a CCP so that I can finally have the right to exercise my 2nd amendment.

Just another infringement. While training is good it still cost a considerable amount to the working poor. So we are back to "you have the right to defend yourself but only if you can afford it" .
