I bought the Rock Island 1911 a couple of months ago and it was my first 1911. I know now what was meant by 1911's being contagious. I was saving to get the Remington R1 but, I could not resist the impulse buying of the American Tactical FX Titan 1911 .45. It is the commander size with checkered grips and beavertail safety. I was in my buddys pawn shop this morning, he usually has a good selection but nowadays its hit and miss with a handful to look at. Anyway got the ATI for $450 out the door. There is something about a 1911! Now starting over saving for the Remington:D

ATI distributes gun manufactured by Shooting Arms Manufacturing (SAM) in the Philippines.

Rock Island Armory guns are made by Armscor, a completely different company also located in the Philippines.

And the there's Metro Arms in the Phillipines that makes the excellent American Classic line of 1911's.

I bought the same Ati a few weeks ago my first handgun purchase. Quickly found out the ACT magazine was garbage I experienced 1-2 ftf every mag through 100 rounds my range had a Wilson combat mag I picked up and have not had one ftf since 300 rounds later. Also think about houge grips they feel real nice on this gun
