I went out to get a bite of breakfast on Friday morning. Right across the street from where I ate was a pawn shop. After I was done I strolled into the pawn shop, just to look, you know. There was not much in the glass display case, but the owner, knowing that I like steel and wood, pulled this one out from under the counter. It has a bit of holster wear but was carried a lot and shot a little. The bore is pristine. It is probably and old cop or security guard's revolver. It may have had some professional trigger work as the trigger is a sweet as I have ever seen on a revolver. I just couldn't stand to leave it there.

Thank you, and thank you.

I just ran a box of ammo through the thing and it is a pleasure to shoot, I really like the heavy barrel for balance.

CHAIN,
Very nice find! Looks like it is in great condition. Do some S&W Research to find out when it was made! That will be interesting! In the days of the semi-auto. I still very much like the quality steel revolvers and have fond memories of some I have owned or carried in the LE field! I cut my teeth in Law Enforcement as a new Deputy Sheriff with my first ever revolver being a S&W Model 27, N Frame 357 Mag. Still have this one!

That is a lot of gun. My son brought over one very similar to that this morning, I believe it was a model 13, but I can't be sure. In any case it was a Smith with shroud, adjustable sights, heavy barrel and in .357.

If anyone has the S&W book I would appreciate a serial number lookup. D412XXX.

Sheepdawg

Where did you go to get that info. I would like to check on the Production Date for the N Frame like my Model 27 in the picture.

Why am I getting alerts on this thread, I'm not watching it ..... o_O.... Nice find though Chainy
why do you think I turned off notifications last year? Same kind of thing happening, with a couple ignored member's threads, I had never seen or replied to, as part of the notifications.

Are you following anyone on here? Sometimes that can also trigger a notification that someone posted in X thread as well.

Nice find Chain.

My Duty N Frame Model 27 5 1/2" was made in 1972. Thanks for the research and information. The one in the Wood Display Case was made in 1976. Fantastic Revolvers!

Thanks Again
