At somepoint (around 1000 rounds) I am thinking of changing my ambi safety to a left side only safety on my Springfield Lw. Champion Operator. Does anyone know if this is simply removing the right side safety lever and good to go or something more involved like a new safety lever and other parts. I did do a search on this couldn't find anything. Thank you for the input and help, I appreciate it.

If you want to remove the ambi, then get a new safety.
Some fitting may be required, but as the grip safety is held in place by the thumb safety, I would not "simply remove the right".

    Dan is correct.

I recently rebuilt a Taurus PT1911 for a friend and it had that damn, infernal Ambi safety on it, which is a MIM part and completely worthless in my opinion.

I bought an all steel, single side safety and we did have to do a very minor bit of fitting to make the safety fit and work correctly. The bonus was that I was able to slightly stretch the spring that pushes the detent against the safety to add just a bit more tension so the safety had a more positive ON/OFF click to it.

You can do it yourself, just go slow and be careful. It's not rocket surgery, but it's important that you take it slow and make triple sure it engages solidly in place before going hot with it. ;)

Yep, you need to get a new thumb safety.

The two thumb safety's above ^ are the two-part ambi type.

These two are left side only.
