Maybe it's all the negative media coverage, but I keep having strong feelings about this and I can't figure out if I'm being ridiculous or if I need to listen to my feeling. I'm really thinking about blowing my gun budget on AR parts for a couple builds, 30 rnd AR mags, getting a Glock, and several 33rd round mags as well as other high cap Glock mags.

Like I said, part of me thinks that this is really stupid and that I'm just getting caught up in all the scare tactics. But on the other hand, I believe that we're seeing the liberalization of America. I feel like we're slowly and subtly being propagandized that we don't really "need" hi cap mags and AR/AK style gun. I feel like those moderates in the middle are starting to get pulled into that way of thinking. And pretty soon, a little more gets eroded away. And I worry about the future of gun rights at say 20 years from now.

Is this a legitimate fear? Would it be a good idea to use my gun budget in this way? Or am I being ridiculous and getting pulled into all the scare tactics? I'd really appreciate some honest feedback on this. Thanks fellas!

If you see something you want.
    Better buy it.
    Prices are sure to climb.
Something Bad is going to happen soon,
Now that "They" have a rallying point
    And this is my opinion.

No.! The liberals are being outrageous!

Imagine if after tragic car crash, the liberals threatened to take your cars away. Or force you to limit the capacity of your gas tank.

If they declared cameras a national security issue and threatened to confiscate all cameras.

What if they decided no one needed to read Mein Kampf, and they decided to ban certain books.

Be angry, be prepared to fight. Because 20 dead school children doesn't seem like much compared to what governments have historically done after they instituted gun bans.

BTW, never forget, the liberal murder machine created this mess with their "gun free zone crap."

Mosin, I know that came out wrong. Let's not push the panic button. Just be diligent and fight for what we know is right. We all realize what happened is a tragedy and can not be taken away. Responsible gun owners had nothing to do with this or any other mass murder. The best response is through your congressman.

That whackjob killer stole the gun he used. He was just recently turned down when he tried to buy a gun. The background check worked, however it can't stop a deranged thief with murder on his mind. He killed innocents and may he burn in Hell.

Unwilling to let a crisis go to waste, the left is attempting another gun grab by playing on people's grief. Instead of grieving or at least being respectful, they're using the deaths of angels to make political hay. I hope there's a special place in Hell for those who would debase those children's deaths and the pain it has caused to promote their socialist agenda.

So how likely does it seem that hi-cap mags and AR/AKs will be banned? I'm really just trying to read the tea leaves basically. If an AWB is pulled off, how long would it last until repealed?

Now that I've got my FFL, I'm seeing distributors being depleted on their gun, ammo, and reloading component inventory. It's hard to not see this as a sign. It's difficult to see a bunch of people fleeing from a storm and yet sit tight and decide to wait it out and hope for the best. If you get what I'm trying to say.

I dunno. I just ordered some ammo and mags. With our move, funds got seriously depleted so I'm playing catch up right now. Maybe I'm panicked, but with the timing of all this I feel the need to get caught up.

Well, I feel comfortable with my ammo situation, but not necessarily my gun and mag situation. Pretty much my whole life I've been focused on building a nice collection. But now I wonder if I need to shift gears for a short period of time and move way from "nice" and toward "functional", not that my nice guns aren't functional. But you know what I'm trying to say.

I was wondering the something however I was looking to purchase my first semi-handgun. I have a lot of revolvers but feel like purchasing a semi with a high capacity mag would be best. Im probably going to go this weekend to get one.

I say buy what you can afford now. If you can't afford the AR then buy just a lower right now and build it later. Just my opinion...Good luck!

I've also just noticed tonight that JSE Surplus has raised their prices on AR parts. This is something that has just happened within the last couple days. I frequent their site daily. I checked all of the essential parts, lowers, uppers, BCG, etc and prices have increased by about 25%.

Yep, demand just went through the roof, and the prices will too. Before, it was almost impossible to find a BCG. Good luck finding one now.
If you decide to buy some AR parts, go ahead and get a few stripped lowers. That is the gun itself, so if there is a ban on buying them, you'll already have some to build off of.
If your worried about them banning high cap mags, go pick up a hand full of pmags.
I would not blow the budget over this. I plan on picking up a stripped lower or two next year, but that's about it. The Dems should remember what happened last time they banned guns. Even with liberals screaming from the rooftops for a ban, a ban would cost a lot of them their seat in Congress.
