    Know your target, and beyond. Anything else is reckless endangerment at minimum.

    Very sad for the family. A gun, cannot be fired, like you a re sipping a soda, or reading a book. To pull out a gun to kill a non threatening backyard creature is bad enough, but to discharge a firearm into woods with no clear backstop is criminal.
