Just wondering what your opinions were on this. Considering most of us can't get a fully auto ak here, is the ak a stamped version of the sks ?

No the ak and the sks are two different animals. Open google and search images of the two and you will see the difference quickly

I have and with the stock and other options you can get for the sks I think the ak is just a shorter less accurate sks.

To my knowledge the sks came first. It was created to fill a carbine role that used the new 7.62x39 cartridge in I think 1945. The sks has a two part free floating bolt that proves to be accurate.

The AK47 (made in 1947) was created loosly based on the German stg44 rifle. It was also chambered with the more capable 7.62x39 round. The AK sports a rotating bolt, which contributes to its inaccuracy. The fact that it is completly stamped dosent help the accuracy either.

These two rifles have only two like trates. The 7.62x39 cartdridge, and being made by the rissians.

And high levels of reliability and the ability to spark an addiction to collection... Maybe they are more alike than some think???:D

Why would somebody want a full auto AK. The gun is already not very accurate. If you want you're AK to be full auto just file the hammer a little bit. This takes the trigger pull away, and causes the recoil to "pull" the trigger again.

If you want to do it legally get the tax stamp for a full auto one made before 1986.

I just thought that was the only advantage to an ak

Fully automatic fire is only a waste of ammo. But it is pretty fun.

You are crazy if you think its inaccurate! Why can I shoot mine 250 yards and hit 75% of the time

Have you considered a VZ-58? It looks like an AK-type rifle, but the action is different, more SKS-like, IMO. Czechpoint sells them high & CAI sells them low.

Lol I think Mikhail just put a thousand yard adjustment on there as a joke, but I too hate when people say AK's are inaccurate. They are as accurate as they need to be

First, the SKS was designed and built by a different

engineer than the AKM. Two very different, but

    similar appearing, rifles.

Sorry, I prefer my SKS. A longer sight radius, and better balance =

more accurate, for me. I can make do with the smaller magazine...
