My shooting partner bought a new AK. It is a WSSR Folder. At the range it fired maybe 10 rounds was jamming. Then the safety would not close all the way and the trigger is locked. I have an AK but never had a problem 20 years. Anyone know what action is needed to clear this action?

Possibly the rivet that connects the gas rod to the bolt carriage

has backed out into the gas chamber while firing.

Field strip the weapon. After you remove the bolt cover and

return spring, see if you can remove the bolt carriage and gas rod

by gently drifting it backwards with a screwdriver handle.

Also, many "new"(?) AKs have dried up grease or Cosmoline in the chamber.

Take a large bore mop, soak it in hot water and degreaser, put two

sections of a cleaning rod onto a drill, and swab out that chamber real well

on low speed,(clockwise rotation) from the breech end of the rifle.

WASRs are one of the standards of the industry, IMO.

Check the Shepherd's Crook. Watch this POS part, it can come unseated. Should the trigger and/or hammer pin cock in the receiver your AK can go full auto. (Trust the old man on this one!)

Best retro fix is the AK Pin Retainer Plate:

Best $5 you'll spent on your AK!

Here's another bolt hold back fix.

This part will cost you anywhere from $45 to $85!

Or you can do what I did for about 15 minutes of work. (My abhorrence of the Dremel tool around guns is wavied when you work on the AK.)
