    I got my first rifle.

    It's a S&W M&P Model 15 AR with an EOtech site

I have been researching online as far as firing accurately.

I am still having trouble firing accurately at even 20 yards.

    Any suggestions or pointers?

I probably should get a sling

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Practice, practice, practice.

Get some snap caps and practice trigger control without having to go to the range. Pick a spot on a wall and practice squeezing the trigger without losing sight of the spot.

Practice. Go get some good bulk ammo and spend a few weekends at the range. Also get to know that rifle inside and out. Knowing your tools is very important when your looking at performance.

Ditch the grip and get a sandbag when shooting at the range. Concentrate on your breathing and trigger pull, nothing else, not even the target. Once you get comfortable with that than the tighter groups will come ;)

Like they have said. Trigger time. Keep shooting. Don't anticipate the round firing, it should "surprise" you.

    Thank you.

I need a lot more practice.

I bought it used so I don't know if it's sighted in or not.

Most of us old-timers didn't have rifles as nice as this to start our shooting with. I remember starting with an old single-shot .22LR. Enjoy your rifle! Take the time to know and use it well.

Before sighting in your Eotech, do sighting in your back up sights.
Sight them in at 25 yards (at least). Like everyone else said practise breath control & trigger control. Fire 5 rounds and adjust if needed and repeat.
Once your backup sights are sighted in. Then sighting in your Eotech by moving the dot to your backup sights aiming point.
Do watch some youtube videos how to sight in.
    Hope it helps..
