I was sorry to hear about the death of James Garner. I used to like the Rockford Files in my younger days.

I remember his role in The Notebook as the faithful husband of an alzheimers wife was stirring. His private eye role on tv was interesting too.

His real life was even more interesting than his stage roles -- he was a Korean War vet with 2 purple hearts.

    RIP James Garner.

quite an entertaining actor for many years.

and on a side note, James Garner was also a racing enthusiast who a couple of times even owned his own racing teams. several times in the past he also raced in a few of the Celebrity Grand Prix races.

I remember "The Rockford Files" fondly.

He brought a humorous and human side to

    being a P.I.

One of my favorite movies is "Murphy's Romance". He

embraced the role, and brought rural Americana to the screen

in a way we will cherish forever.

I am going to miss his characters. I am quite certain that all of the times he was knocked-out as Rockford must have contributed to his demise.

He was a Korean vet with two purple hearts.

One of my favorite racing movies. The sequence of Monaco, with the split screens and narrative about walking the course, and the number of shifts performed, artfully showed why that level of racing is truly a sport. It also emphasized how tough it was back then.
