Are you talking about the flash hider?
No its an upper made by AAC shoots 7.62x35
It's the latest entry into "what else can we do with the AR platform?". It uses the same lower and mags as the 223/5.56, but with a 30 caliber bullet. Of what I've seen, not quite the club as the 458 SOCOM round, but impressive. Hickock45 has a great video on it.
How is the round compared to the 7.62x39?
Better. More energy. Better bullet designs available as it uses 308 instead of 311. Noncorrosive. More reliable feeding in the ar15 platform. Uses common unmodded 30 roumd ar15 magazines
Can you find the ammo very well?
I have the 16" CMMG 300 BLK non suppressed. I just went to the range yesterday for a sight in with a new red dot. Using Remington UMC 115 gr. at 50 yards off a Caldwell Jr. with my old eyes.
Yes ammo is available. I get mine from bullseyeindoorrange.com
Its out there and getting more common slowly. The best thing is it can be created easily from 223/556 brass from what i understand.
Ive been looking to get an AR and saw these I might just build one. What lower do you have for yours?
Is that a spikes lower?
Yes, Spikes lower, Palmetto State Armory premium MOE LPK, MOE stock Assembly.
Any problems with jamming or malfunctions? What Mag is that?
No jamming, no malfunctions, ejection of spent brass is to the 4 o'clock position. The only problem I've experienced is subsonic ammo will fire but it won't cycle to feed and fire another round (an adjustable gas block would solve that issue). All supersonic ammo used so far, will feed, fire, and cycle properly.
Mag is a 30 round Magpul PMag. I have also used a variety of 5, 10, and 20 round mags from Magpul, USGI, AR Stoner, without any problems or feeding issues.
All in all the 300 BLK has met my expectations and will be going with me on a hog hunt next month. I'll be using Atlantic Arms 125 gr. green tip ballistic ammo.
If you buy an AAC suppressor do you have to shoot the subsonic or can you shoot both the sub and super?
You can shoot both, and adding a suppressor would cure the not cycling subsonic ammo issue without adding an adjustable gas block.
