Just curious, if Glock was never started, what would you be shooting with today?
Same thing i shoot now......colts and anything else. I HATE lego guns aka glocks
dito I hate glocks I like the feel of cold hard steel/ aluminum in my hands.
Id take my moms judge over a glock everyday...at least i can kill someone throwing the dang thing hard enough or using it as a club.
What's not to like about Glocks....granted they are not great looking & some prefer the "cold, hard metal" but Glocks are tremendous pistols. I own several Glocks as well as sig, ruger, s&w & beretta and without a doubt the Glocks have been the most durable easy to maintain weapons I own....just my view.
Try having two BRAND FRICKIN NEW ones blow up in your hands and you will know why i hate them. Also because i dont like any gun that has no external safety.
If there were no Glocks, I'd still be shooting what I'm shooting now.
No Glocks for me.
I'd still be shooting what I shoot now, the old 1911, Ruger SR9c, and anything else out there.
Same guns i have now. Cant stand glocks. Its like a committee got together and drew up a list of things not to do in a gun design and went with it.
I dont think a worse gun design could have been created if you tried.
I love my 1911 . I like my glock
Why all the resentment towards Glocks? Other people have always seemed to have good luck with them, and ANY gun can explode if certain conditions are met. The safeties aren't a big deal since the gun is decently safe from discharge without them. I like the glock. Just wondering about these gen 4's (I seemed to have gotten a lemon). I almost got a Ruger SR9, and I actually should have bought one instead. 1911 is a nice dependable auto but it's too heavy and kicks too hard for my liking, and I don't particularly like external hammers.
Yeah you guys don't be a hater!
Remember when Dodge redesigned the pick-up truck in 1994? Now they all look like that. Same deal with Glock.
But to answer the original Q...probably my S&W SS 65-3. I still think revolvers are generally more accurate, and they don't leave any of that pesky evidence laying around.
Interesting that I posted this in the glock forum, and the only replies are glock haters.... Does this mean that Glock owners don't know of any other gun manufacturers? J/k
Nope just means there arent many out there that like them just kiddin mon ami.
Didnt know there were so many Glock Haters!! Listen, i love Glocks but i also enjoy others too. Its just hard to pick over one especially when it passes all important criteria. Is it very reliable? YES, Is it accurate? YES, Is it durable? YES, Simple maintenance? YES, Is it budget friendly? YES. What more you need? Now, if your into beauty guns, then Glocks arent for you....try a all stainless 1911 with some cherrywood grips or something. I see a lot of people judging them strickly off personal preference and not whats important. Show me a pistol thats in the $500+ range thats blowing Glock out of the water I bet you be hard pressed to do so.
And to answer the question, if Glocks werent around, I may own Springfield XD's or the "whyareallGermanmadestuffexpensive?" H&K USP.
Although you may consider me a Glock hater, I'm not.
The Glock has its place, just not in my safe or holster.
Now back to the question, I would probably shoot the same thing that I shot the most of (just like I've been doing), a handgun based on the 1911 platform.
So, if there were never a Glock, I don't see a change.
I got my Glock Gen4 working good today. Works loads better than my Taurus 9mm. Next up to buy is the S&W Sigma or the Ruger SR9 in a few months. But the KelTec rifle that's coming out soon is definitely gonna be in my collection.
I don't hate Glocks. They're just not my cup of tea really. One of these days I'll get around to purchasing one, when I have the money that is .
Well, if Glocks were never invented that'd narrow the field by a lot. None of the other 'Glock inspired' polymer-framed pistols would likely exist either...
I guess I'd stick with SIG, I'd just have to get by with less of 'em.
