Well, there have been a few rants about cops that like to overstep their bounds on here of late. One has even taken me to task and ranted at me for my views. That is fine, I'm a big boy and take no offense from it. I would even like to here his take on this, as well as from our other resident LEO's.

OK Heres the tale of road rage.

I pull out onto one of our major thoroughfares and start heading home from picking up a few things at the local wallywhirled and checking the prices on a few things at the best buy.

Its a warmish day and my windows are half way down.

In front of the mall they (the city) has the traffic all messed up with a series of lights, I happen to be in the left lane. I see the lane is way backed up and the right lane has less vehicles, so i check the mirrors and bounce to the right lane and start moving. I clear the lights and check my mirror, i see plenty of room between my back bumper and the truck i just passed so i bounce back to the left lane as i know its the one i need.

Well, the truck i just passed, the driver takes exception to me moving over and starts laying on the horn throwing a $H!T fit. My natural reaction is a one fingered salute out the window. (Piss on you buddy, i made a legal, safe move...hes damn lucky i didnt throw the truck down in L1 and let him hit me in the back end:eek: In retrospect thats EXACTLY what i should have done ;):D)

ANYWHO, i continue along my merry way in heavy traffic. I pass under the last light before i have to make my left turn towards home and i see this jackwad come racing up on the right side. I just chuckle and say to myself "Self, wheres this idiot think hes going, theres a slower moving grand am right there and he certainly cant clear me before i get to it."

Well, this Jackwad jerks it right back over on my bumper when he sees he cant get me cleared. (Driving like a raving lunatic is what hes doing).

Well i come up on my turn, toss on my turn signal and move to the turn lane (Remember this is a MAJOR highway thru town 2 lane east, 2 lanes west, one turn lane and it is BUSY) well jackwad in his mini chevy pickup truck whips up in front of me, halfassed blocking me (Miserable fail) and generally causing a shakeup to the poor drivers coming around the bend behind and freaking out those in the oncoming lanes.

HE cuts me off, throws his arm out at me. My immediate reaction is another one finger salute, then i notice hes proudly displaying an Indiana State Police patch on the shoulder of his uniform sweater, I then immediately start waving my hands to him in a "COME ON" fashion, yelling (remember, my windows are open) "Come on little boy! What! What! What you gonna do!! YOU GOT NOTHING!!!"

He then whips his truck back out into oncoming traffic and takes off flying down the road...again causing much strife to the poor folks coming around the bend on this major highway.

My point being, once again, DAMN COPS thinking they ARE the law and ABOVE IT. Rather than simply being citizens whos JOB it is to enforce law.

    JERK!!!

Sorry, but i hadda rant a bit....it wouldnt have been near as bothersome if it would have been a run of the mill road raging jackwad.......but it was a STATE COP that SHOULDA known better than to act the way(s) he did!!

There are more good cops than bad cops just as in any other group except politicians. It is difficult to weed out the bad cops and their conspicuous bad behavior give the good guys a bad and undeserved rap. Most of the cops really care about doing their job and dont use it for an ego trip. I am not a cop and have never been one so I am not prejudiced in their favor. I have seen cops on an ego trip but they are the exception not the rule. I have also seen them lose their temper but that is human and a person can only take so much. The one you depicted I believe is an exception and you cant tell me that you have never lost your cool.

I have met a few cool cops in my time as well. Also, i do my best to keep my temper. I have lost my temper on a few occasions....but its ALWAYS after being pushed WAY too far (i'm typically a pretty mellow guy) and certainly not for something as stupid as road rage!

The blue line has been broken down over the last 10 years. Cops don't take care of their own. The game is to bust each other now. I think it was forced by the government to weaken the brotherhoods power. Don't trust anyone! They also went through a period of time with really high employment and the were force to lower their hiring standards. Obama fixed that with high unemployment. Report it with the license number to the chiefs office and any police over sight committee there might be. I have a lot of family in your area, I don't want some wannabe officer jacking them around or you for that matter. Document it in detail, 1st person and then report it to every agency you think of. I would even e-mail it to aclu and al sharpton, get those liberals doing something good for a change.

Not trying to tell you your business bro but IMHO...ya gotta de-escalate the situation. Hit the ignore button, if he wants to be a d**k, that's on him. I'm sure all of us have seen "that guy", they're everywhere but as a CCW holder you have MUCH more to lose than the average Joe, will it be worth it? Just sayin', you never know how it would unfold if things went further.

There is some folks you dont mess with on the highways , I am one of them .
You see the biggest difference between you and me is that I dont care what damage I do to my rig or what it takes to make me feel better about what you just did to me . Anyone with an obama sticker is prime target . Sooooo hit me if you want , my 92 f350 4 door long bed will win with all 7.3 liters of american ozone polluting iron oh and open pipe out the passanger side .
BUT I do hate pulling an a$$hole move then get stuck at a red light right beside the poor soul I just scared to death.
Why just last night I had 2 cars in front of me on my country 2 lane home stretch road that felt the need to save the planet by driving 45 in a 55 so I got pass the first one just to get stuck behind ahole in front . Ahole in front thinks its funny to brake check me , but see I was expecting that , hahahah . So I give him the bright light treatment for the next 3 miles to my street , the car behind me bright lights me and stays on the horn as im turning, so I came to a very abrupt stop causing him to clean out my ditch , feeling satisfied I smoke both rears fish tailing into my street , coming home happy and satisfied.

I cut of an escort one time and the guy came up beside flashing a badge yelling for me to pull over ... I point at his car and laugh and leave like he was sitting still . On the other hand I tend to leave full size american cars alone since they have those little blue lights that stick to your sunvisors these days , them can get ya and i have been gotten

Is it me or do the threads that FMJ and me post on get out of control ? lmao Great minds think alike

    Point taken. You are correct.

I was over it and still quite mellow....until this dipshyt throws his truck in front of mine (a mile after I moved into the lane in front of him) like hes gonna do something. In the MIDDLE of 4 lanes of SERIOUS traffic doing we'll say 45, as thats the speed limit, but any that travel the corridor know its more like 50-55.

At that point...well, i guess i did lose a bit of cool....when i saw the ISP patch is when i REALLY blew my stack. Thats when i started yelling at him to "Bring it".

As a CCW holder, yes, i do need to de-escalate...that being the case, WTF is a STATE TROOPER doing ESCALATING the situation?

If i was gonna escalate i woulda put the front bumper of my full sized F-150 right into the driver side door of his little, girly truck (Chevy Avalanche) and pushed his dumb *** right back out into traffic...and prolly been legal to do so. ;) What he did CERTAINLY wasnt a legal move by any standard.

just a fyi for us wisconsin peeps. a ccw holder here that verbally physically or otherwise that participates in escalating an encounter has no self defense argument. the state ccw law here explicitly says you would be up for a murder charge.

so if fmj's encounter played out here and it ended with him shooting the person he wouldnt have been able to use self defense.

    >>snort<< i have a few friends just like YOU when it comes to driving...i on the other hand tend to err on the side of caution....but I do need to put my reciever back in.

Its time like these when i wished i had the old '78 F-250 5 speed with the granny gear....put down in low 1 and dump the clutch...then road rager is attached to me at the bumper with a huge hole in their radiator and I am calling their insurance company to fix MY stuff. :D;)

Yeah I've read some of your posts on this subject. I'm about the same way. Except my truck is very small, I have to be a bit more careful.

    WHOAAAA!!

Wait a minute....this guy escalated it by using a 2000 lb piece of machinery by throwing it sideways in front of me in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic....

I do see the verbal escalation point and my wrongness there...but should had it continued, hes dead (or i am) and there are witnesses to his truck cutting me off in the middle of 4 lanes of congestion and i'm smart enough to omit the last part;):D

I've got to disagree with you on the code of blue. It is alive and strong here in California. A good chunk of folks here, those under maybe 40, more and more just plain dispise the police. And most have personal experience to back theirposition. Just google "Fullerton" and see a recent example.

thats the point you shoulda called 911 and gave the police a description lic # and location. then gave a verbal over the 911 line description of what occured. responding verbally or by gesture is where ya went wrong.

im just pointing out what would happen under wisconsin ccw and self defense laws. it wouldnt matter if he started talking about your sister and mom and obama in a three some you respond to the accusation in turn and it escalates and you kill him you committed a homicide here in wisconsin not self defense. its considered provocation here even if the other guy started it.

im not slamming ya just putting a what if out there cuz our ccw is new and not a lot of folks understand how it works in wisconsin. but i think if you go about armed you have a duty not to participate in verbal sparring and dick waving. who is gonna support your family while your being proccessed by the penal system??

use of force really stuck with me in my police training.

anyway just my two primer worth.
