OK, again, I may be behind time, but I found something intriguing. I know the Sig P238 isn't actually a 1911, but it is quite similar. I have always like those little pistols, just haven't wound up with one yet. However, now Sig Sauer has introduced a P938. It appears to be a 238 in 9mm. Same package with more punch. My question is who knows anything about these. Is it to much "umph"? The 238 is small and petite, but if you put too much power into this little pocket rocket, how managable is it really going to be?

I test fired a p238 and there was almost no recoil. Ill be gettin one when I get my taxes back. I don't know what the 938 will be like but they did make it a lil bigger to compensate for the larger caliber

It's so new, may be tough finding a lot about it except from some gun rag that's paid to say what they say. With my weak wrists, don't think I'll risk it. My PF9 Keltec is giving me fits & I don't think I need more of the same.

I just became aware of this gun less than 24 hours ago. I have been hesitating to get a 238 because I hadn't seen one in person, and am debating going to a 380. Yesterday, I got my hands on the 238, and I was impressed! But the salesman mentioned that Sig had a new one in 9mm. So. Off to the LGS to see if he can find a 938......

The 238s are def awesome looking guns. I haven't seen a 938 yet, I would think they would be hard to find. Good luck.

It's a 9mm sig. I wouldn't be so concerned with recoil. Price of a sig and size for a pocket pistol would concern me more.

When I think of any 1911 I think of a .45acp. To me there is only one caliber that a 1911 should be and it,s a .45acp. Now if one wants a really good 9mm and there are many, my choice is the Walther P99 and PPQ. both in 9mm. And I had Kimber 1911s .45acp but now own Colts two in .45acp. To me Colts are the only real honest as John Browning Designed the 1911 Mfg. today.:)

You get what you pay for. That's sig's thing.

I don't think anyone is saying it IS a 1911. Just that it is similar to one. Personally, I cannot afford to either buy 45 Auto ammo, and cannot conceal that gun one me. I'm way too small for that. Seems to me that the 938 is the perfect answer. I have had no interest in Sig untill recently, but their quality sounds excellent. I agree: you get what you pay for.

Bud's recently had them for $645 (they're sold out).

For the level of quality and finish that accompanies alloy Sigs, and then adding in Night Sights, that's really not such a bad price. Probably an outstanding gun.

I would be very interested in a range report from someone who owns the P938.

I set my gun dealer to work yesterday hunting one down. We'll see what he finds. I'd consider mid 600's not bad at all. I bet they won't be available, though.

Do a Google "shopping" search for Sig 938. I think you'll find that quite a few online retailers have them available for real close to $625, and in various finishes as well.

I talked to a Sig rep today. He stated that he did not know when the 938 will be out. He said they will be built in either Exeter, NH, or at their new manufacturing facility in Portsmouth, NH. Sounds like Portsmouth is not quite up and running, though.
Now, their literature lists 4 model variations for this gun, But I have heard there is 5. I have seen the 5th one, called the Nightmare or something, and got the impression it has already been released. Anyone have any info on that?

It was somewhat amusing, too. The guy is standing there at an open house for a gun shop, and he has on his table some catalogs, Sig sticks, and some business cards. NO GUNS!! Everybody else brought guns...........
