Well, Christmas has come and gone for me this year, and I have a report to make. It goes like this: usually on Christmas Santa never brings me anything firearm related as a present. However, this year Santa has come through on doing just that. What did Santa bring me you may ask? Why, Santa brought me my very own Ruger 10/22! Yes, Santa brought me the Kool-Aid drinking rifle of the .22LR world! However, there are a few problems with the gift, and as such has kind of refrained me from wanting to keep it. Here is the skinny on what I didn’t like about the new gift: 1.) The rifle was a distributor special, and came with a custom Hogue stock. I am not a big fan of Hogue simply because I have medium sized hands with short thumbs, and therefore have difficulity in having a comfortable grip on the rifle. I will admit though that I do like the rubberized feel and grip, and would easily get a backup stock in black if I could find one that could fit in my hands. 2.) The stock’s color is OD green. I HATE OD GREEN. No let me rephrase that: I HATE any color that is OD green, coyote brown, dark earth, etc. Give me a good old wood stock or black synthetic as far as coloring is concerned any day of the week. 3.) The barrel is a 16’’ barrel instead of an 18’’ barrel. Of course in all honesty, that is not as big of an issue compared to the previous two complaints. Despite the negatives I am still glad that Santa brought me a 10/22. Not only is it my first .22LR rifle, but my first rifle period (laugh at me all you want). Of course, with the issues that I have with the rifle it would seem that my Christmas didn’t turn out well right? Well, fear not because not all hope is lost. You see, Santa was able to get me the rifle from a dealer who is willing to take the rifle back, and will allow me to order the one I want. Therefore, tomorrow I plan on doing just that. I plan on keeping you guys up to date on the new rifle, any changes I make to it, and of course a good old range report. So, technically while I am not a full-fledged member of the Ruger 10/22 Kool-Aid Club yet, I will be soon enough. Until then, here is a picture of the rifle that I plan on taking back. Enjoy it boys and girls, and please refrain from mocking me for taking it back.
