My uncle, who is in LE, shot two of his toes off. He was putting a different stock on his shotgun at the time. He was outside sitting on concrete, so he rested the barrel on the tip of his shoe to keep from damaging it. Somehow the gun went off, removing the two toes to the right of his big toe. Not only did he catch quite a bit of grief from his co-workers, but he had to go through lots of therapy to learn to walk correctly.
Also, one of my former employees was in his bedroom with a pistol while his son was sitting on the bed. I forget exactly what happened, but I think we was trying to clear his pistol, and it went off. He wound up killing his young son. He was always a little different type of person, bit now act extremely odd from what I hear. I cannot say I wouldn't be the biggest nut job on the planet if it had happened to me. It was very sobering going to visit him in the hospital while his son was in ICU. The utter devastation his family was going through is something I will never forget.
