First buck of the season this morning:
Way to go Lon, nice. Did you take him on your ranch?
Want one? Come down!
Are you serious? I haven't taken a deer in 30 years and would love to take one.
I do have all next week off.......
Call me manana.
Damn Lon you killed Bambi's mommy but you sure look good holding her head up!!!!
I mean Bambi's daddy lol!!!!
Holy Mackrel RSG,,,, can't you tell the difference between a boy deer and a girl deer???????? Shih you need to give RSG some lessons in anatomy.
I really didn't know the difference BUT Lon can teach me the difference if he will lol!!!! Only if Mrs. Lon will let him
That just gave me a very bad picture in my head.
Boys have horns.....that makes sense, huh?
Lon congrats on the kill. That is a beauty. Nice shot placement on that boy as well. Question is what rifle do you have there?
Yes Lon that makes sense.
Kimber 84M in .308, Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42, Nosler Ballistic silver tip 168-gr.
Shot him at about 130 yards, saw a little dust cloud behind him. He turned and ran around the corner so fast I wasn't sure I hit him. Went to the spot, saw blood, followed it to about thirty yards away where he had dropped. Exit wound about the size of a nickel. His heart was pulverized.
I'm blessed to be in a position to take this kind of game on private land with no other hunters except my friends and some of the employees. I'll be going after an Axis deer next I hope.
Is that your first deer with the Kimber? One of your handloads?
Yep and yepper.
The only thing as satisfying as whacking one with handloads is whacking one with a home made bow, home made arrows and home made string.
So, in the great state of Texas can one hunt deer and hogs at the same time?
Nice der Lon!! I haven't bagged anything yet this year but I'm hoping that will change tomorrow. I've been watching them all season but they've stayed out of range. I can finally use a rifle and the 30-06 has more then enough reach.
Yes one can! We got out about 5:30 a.m. and the only reason we didn't see any hogs is because it was a full moon last night so they probably fed much earlier than usual. Otherwise the place would have been crawling with hogs that time of day.
