Has anybody considered an AR in 9mm Winchester Magnum 9X29? Supposed to be the same power level as the .357 mag but more suitable for semi auto. What the M1 Carbine should have been.

The problem is as most things semi auto are magazines. If it was a 9mmx45 it might be easier to convert but then you get into 300 whisper/blk territory.

Maybe 10-15 years ago it might have had a chance but today there are better choices.

A more feasible way to go maybe like the 460 rowland just extend the case to 9x20 use more powder ream the chamber to x20 depth then you can increase powder charge and just seat the bullet a bit deeper using the heavier .357 diameter bullets. That way you got a ready supply of magazines and ar lowers adapted to use them

JTG- where are you going to get ammo? IIRC, that round is pretty much considered obsolete. Midway USED to have a bit, but not in their current catalog.

But like several others it only was able to reach low level 357 mag power levels. The 400 corbon is another great round that stepped above the smaller or shorter cartidges but these can be more than hard on the most handguns out there and once they get to big and to heavy why bother. Get a revolver and step up the power level.
