I have read that the S&W 3000 was a copy of the 870. I have one of these and want to convert to a HD gun. Will 870 stocks and stuff fit?

    Thanks

Well, the S&W 3000 was sold by S&W from 1972 to 1984. After S&W dropped it, Mossberg sold it as their Model 3000 for one year. The guns were actually made by Howa of Japan, who also imported it briefly, under their own name.

Its a close, but NOT exact copy of the Remington 870, and most parts including barrels and stocks, don't interchange. Gun Parts Corporation sells most parts under both the S&W and Mossberg names. Gun Parts Corporation bought the S&W parts, and they still stock most parts and many police accessories like folding stocks, barrels, and magazine extensions. Here's their link.

Thanks Jack, looks like all the good stuff is sold out. Wonder if that is a bad sign. I will check back in a few weeks.
