I really want an 8 shot .357 Magnum Revolver. The problem is, there are only two companies that produce them: S&W and Taurus.

I love S&W wheel guns, so if I fall into a bit of extra money, I might buy one if I can find it for less than MSRP. They're damn expensive, though. I don't know if I can justify the cost.

I am inherently leery of Taurus guns, despite their lifetime warranty.

I wish Ruger or another company produced them. Or that the Smith ones weren't so expensive.

    :(

    An eight shot revolver just ain't natural. It's called a "six-shooter" . "Eight-shooter" don't sound right.

Yeah but it'd be a great HD gun.

While I didn't get a super screaming fire sale price, I paid no where near MSRP. Shop around, even Performance Center stuff gets some markdown from MSRP.
I was a bit skeptical of the cost at first too. If you shoot one, you WILL want one. Yes, I did have some splainin' to do as to why a I spent that much on a revolver... oh and then there was the optic and adapter . Fortunately my wife liked it when she shot it. more often than not, you're simply better served paying just once and getting what you wanted in the first place, even if it hurts a bit at the time. 5 years on, I can just about guarantee you will be happy.

May not be "natural" or even traditional, but who cares? That stamp on the barrel may not even be "priceless" in the literal sense, but man it's cool, I can't help but smile when I see it.

Nice lookin gun man. Thanks for the thread. I'm seeing a couple on armslist for $750 right now. Of course I don't have the money to buy it right now. And they won't be around in a few months, more than likely.

I have one of the Performance Center 627s and it's easily one of the best current production revolvers made.

I would definately spend the extra for the Smith. Taurus has improved greatly over the past 10 years or so. WTS, I hear from way too many folks that they NEED the warranty w/in a year. Even then, service time is long. The last time I sent a gun to S&W (about 3 months ago) it was back in just over a week.

Good for you, JW. Not many revolver fans in this world of high capacity autos. The down side, as you've found, is variety of makes. IHO, save your pennies and get a S&W.

I basically agree guys. Everytime I see a picture of a S&W 8-shot, I drool a little bit. Taurus just isn't doing it for me.

Plus, I trust S&W as a company. I have ill feelings towards Taurus.
