"They were expecting the terrified occupants to run out, begging for mercy with their hands in the air. But things didn't go as expected. Don Alejo welcomed them with bullets; the entire army of gunmen returned fire."

Don Alejo Garza Tamez, Rest in peace sir.

he became his own militia. a real hero. this is why we have a second ammendment. this poor man's reality is our future as law and order erodes. our greedy congress and president assures it. i just hope i have the courage of Don Alejo when the time comes to do the right thing.

When I found this story I wasn't expecting it to be as heroic as it turned out to be. I hope that I can have that kind of strength if the time comes for me to stand up.

Mexico is inexorably becoming a failed state. I've seen a few of those. Things are going to get much worse in our border states. And there is no simple answer, no quick fix.

Hemispherical legalization of marijuana is a novel idea, but it'll never happen. The US alone spends around two billion a year fighting the "evil weed." To no avail.

This gentleman died a hero, but he never should have died in this manner in the first place. RIP.

Can you imagine the same thing happening in the US? If things keep going the way they are, maybe someday it will.
