I've heard about a kit that allows you to do drop out magazines. Anyone tried this or know how it's done???

I went round on this one a while back. Best thing to do is send it off to a pro. To get it to lock up right you will have to get new bottom metal and have the stock and reciever inletted by someone that knows what they are doing. Comes with a big cost, proprietary mags if you want something that works (AICS), 90 each. My 2cents (and 500 bucks getting my SPS done). Hope this helps.

you can get the bottom metal from Badger ord. It runs about $400 +fitting by your smith.

This only works for a 308 or 308 based cartridge, 243, 260, 7mm-08, 308, 358 win. So you can't buy this system and convert it over to a 22-250 or 223.

I am going to say this will end up costing you more then the entire SPS rifle did and for what nothing really.

You can go with a CDI version for a little less money $302 or the H-S version for even a little less $278 - $300

Do you really need to reload that fact? I myself just stuff the internal mag full and one in the chamber then I load my pockets up with about 10 more (when Ground hoggin)....

Thats just a little more than I want to spend... If it's that much of an investment... I'll just snag the absolutely beautiful 700p LTR in 300 winmag (omg omg omg omg omg) comes with a top of the line swivel bipod and a beebee gun scope (ha... no joke)... all off 800 clams.

Yes, it will. You are right, no need for it outside of professional arena.

But do we need a lot of what we have? :D It is ballz on cool; but that shi-ite weighs a TON!

You can get the Wyatts detachable mag kit at Stocky's for $239. If you have a B&C stock it will drop right in.

Why don't you just buy a Rem 700 SPS DM(Detachable Magazine)? The gun comes with a detachable magazine.

because I already have a reg SPS in 22-250, didn't know they made a sps with DM. Thought that was only on the 700p's and LTR's.

    DM

Watch ebay and gunbroker. I just sold a remy DM stock and mag new for $100. I have a B&C with Remy metal on my 30-06. Also check Midway they are spozed to have a kit that fits without any mods. It ain't a high dollar deal. Ken
