Yes, it is an old (1915) Russian Moisin-Nagant, made originally is 7.62x54R. It has been "sporterized".

Pretty stock. Most sporterized mosins have that fugly ATI synthetic stock.

I have to agree with Trip. That is one pretty stock, but I don't like sporterized military firearms though.

It just looks ugly and cheap to me. Nothing really wrong with it, I just dont like it. Their turn down bolt handle kit is 10X worse though.

Do you know of any other "tactical" stocks out there?

I don't think I would call the ATI "tactical", but other than that gorgeous piece of work in the picture, I think boyd's makes some laminate sporter stocks for the mosin. I wanna say all the other ones I've seen were full custom jobs. Point I'm getting at, is I, personally, my humble opinion, do not like the ATI synthetic sporter stock for the mosin, and wood sporter stocks for the mosin are not very easy to find.

All that nonsense being said by me, I'm not a hardcore purist, but I'll be keeping the original stock on mine. I always love seeing other peoples projects though, and I think the one in the picture is exceptionally nice.

Just do a google for mosin nagant stocks, you'll come up with a lot of replacements. Most people arm to recommend numrich gun parts but I've never used them myself.

I just equate sporterizing a rifle about the same thing as going to autozone and buying chrome gas caps and a tiny chain link steering wheel along with a shag dash cover maybe some of those hubcaps made of plastic that keep spinning when yourstopped and putting all on a classic camaro or something.

Check eBay - I've had a lot of luck with Mosin stocks there.

I want to scope mine also, so I've been looking into this. There are many set ups for LER scores out there, most involve removing the rear sight and using the base. However, it is a constantly evolving thing with mosin scopes, there are things on the market that weren't there just a few weeks ago.

Personally, even though mine is not a sniper, I want to scope mine with the original sniper set up. This can be pricey though, with some repro sniper mounts by themselves sometimes selling for 500 bucks. Good deals can be found though, I once found on ebay the complete set up (PU scope included) for 150 dollars, which is phenomenal if it really is what the seller said it was. I had to pass as I didn't have the money laying around any where, and that auction lasted about 2 hours.
