I looked around for quite a while to find a mid-sized bolt action for small centerfires. It just didn't appeal to me to feed a full-sized Mauser a diet of small mild shells, such as the.25-20 WCF. I like the idea of a little more power than a .22, but .22RF bolt guns are a little too small.

I'd been intrigued by the idea of making a bolt action since I was a kid. So when I thought of a way to make the raceways without broaching, I started the project.

I think the pictures might tell the story.

After milling away most of the waste around the locking lugs I ground a tool to match the bolt arc and used it in my lathe as a shaper.
