Will the 6.5 Grendel make it to 1000 yards with 123 gr.SMK. Black Hills Gold ??
Probably. Heck, the .22lr will make it 1000 yards and so will many calibers. I imagine in the right wind, elevation and direction, almost anything will make it 1000 yards.
Can you be more specific? 1000 yards for what exactly? Bench shooting? Zombie defense? Big game hunting in a state other than Ohio?
Btw, I must have missed your introduction. I am just down 77 a bit at exit 1. Welcome.
For some reason I'm pictuing it arced up almost more like a mortar than a rifle.
If you are really looking for a 1000 yard rifle, get an
AR10 in 6.5 Creedmore. I have heard they are still
supersonic at 1200 yards.
What about Lapua 123 gr. Scenar BC .547 at 2600 MV ?
The 6.5 Grendel is definitely a 100o yard round. The 123gr. Scenar that you brought up will have more velocity than any .308 round I could find at 500 yards. It seems to retain it's energy better than the .308 as well. There are better rounds out there for 1000 yards though.
Here ya go
Looks like its supersonic to about 1200 yds based on your figures(Weight,BC, Velocity)

That's my future ex-wife. I'll have another future ex-wife up there tomorrow morning.
did you ever watch Living the Low Life?
Several times, just because she was the host.
I Must ask. Who is she.... thats such a great pic...
Vida Guerra . She became "famous" around 03. Well I think it was 03. I was deployed so it could have been earlier. Basically for her "rear-end." She did some photo shoots for mags such as Maxim. She also did a few shows here and there. The one I remember most was a show on Telemundo where she was in a bubble filled jacuzzi w/ the host. Then last year she hosted a show called Living the Low Life. It was a show that followed the low rider scene.
