Hey folks,

Does anyone know if any manufacturers are currently chambering any rifles in 6.5 Rem Mag? Would like to have one but at this point, don't feel like buying a custom. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

best answer i can find is nobody seems to be chambering for that particular cartridge and apparently haven't in quite some time. looks like the choices come down to possibly, (?) finding an old Remington M700 that was chambered in that cartridge or having a barrel made chambered in it.

Custom today.

But the 284, 260 and 7MM-08 will do anything the 6.5 will do and they're also short action calibers.

Some Model 600's are still around. The only problem with them are the very short barrels. The short barrel kind of defeats the purpose of having the 6.5 Rem. Mag. You will lose 200 to 300 fps. The 6.5 Rem. Mag. is a great cartridge though, especially in a 24-26" barrel.

pretty close to what i read also and probably why they had problems marketing the cartridge. too short a barrel. and they mentioned, that by the time they went to a longer barrel the damage was already done as far as public perception of the cartridge. it's ballistics with similar cartridges was excellent when used in the right length barrel. sad too. seems like an interesting cartridge.

You can get a ruger 6.5 creedmoor 26" barrel its got basically the same ballistics as a .260. Its is about 200fps faster than the 6.5x47 lapua. and buy your ammo from Hornady. That's the best answer I have.

Thanks for the imput! Guess I will stick to my favorite, the .260. Just a .264 cal junkie and thought the 6.5 Rem Mag was interesting. Maybe I will look at 6.5-06! THANKS AGAIN FOLKS!!! Great forum here.
