I use a centerpoint 4-16x40 on my 30-06 had it on my 22-250 first and it works great but if you want a lighter scope a tasco 3-9x50 or even a 40 would be great to my 22 has a tasco 2.5-10x44 on it and I can see 150 no problem

BSA makes a decent scope that's dropped compensated for the .17hmr. Not sure how it preforms, just remember seeing it around

Vortex, leupold, burris ,bushnell, any 3x9 or 4x12 will be plenty of scope, cheap optics are not worth the weight to me, go with good glass an u wont wish u had later down the road.

Might want to take a look at a Weaver 40/44 aspherical lens scope being sold at a discounted price at Natchez Shooters Supply for around $120. They have the 3.8-12x44 A.O. for this price. Its a bargain price, you should find others selling it for at least $180. Own one myself and optics in it are quite good. Scope is made in Philippines.

I have the center point 4-16x40 as well. Good and clear but doesn't gather light well. The Bushnell banner 4-12x40 is another good choice. Any 3-9x40 will be fine, but more magnification is better for those 100+ yard squirrel shots.

Not to start any chit with you, but a center point above 12x is not near what I would even call clear, very cheap glass an it shows on them above 9 x, I just dont see this as a well even a decent scope. The very least in a scope option for any gun I own would be a redfield, good glass an clarity for under 250$. I hear it all the time that not everyone can afford a swarovski or a zeiss, but im here to say yes u can save a lil every payday, stay home an fart around instead of goin somewhere, eat out a lil less, it adds up quick. Thats mho not to offend anyone.

I agree with you everyone can save up for quality optic but I can tell you how many pants I got that my wallet burned a hole thru:( lol but I like my centerpoint its a good scope for what you pay and on 16x it pretty clear not like a zeiss but good enuff to pop a hole in something couple hundred yards away

I really wasn't endorsing the centerpoint at all. I have one...but only rated it as 'good'. I never go past 10x on mine. But for $69 including rings it was hard to pass up. I would recommend the Bushnell Banner 4-12x40 as a better entry level choice. Obviously those that can afford better glass have more options. Not everyone can afford to drop $250 on glass and need to find something below $100. Everyone has their opinions and priorities.

Very wrong everyone can save up for a quality scope, if not you are living above your means PERIOD, its just we as gun nuts usually think we MUST GET ONE NOW NOW NOW!!!!! But if the centerpoint works for you roll with it I guess??

The only dislike I have about the centerpoint is the rings I had to take a par of vise grips and break one of the rings off but they are good starter till you get a better scope

Wow...totally missed my point. Not everyone shares the same priorities in life. Using cars as an example...you feel that everyone should be able to save enough money to drive a Cadillac. If you cannot afford a Cadillac you are living beyond your means PERIOD. Some folks are happy driving a Kia...not as nice as a Cadillac, but they can afford it along with food and utilities, and it gets the job done. I was simply giving the OP some constructive information based on my personal experience. So many of these threads get derailed....

Mulie isn't talking about a $30000 difference like your automobile savings. He is talking about another $100-300 and you have a quality scope. Take a look at vortex optics. US made and a no BS lifetime warranty. You dont need any more than 9x and personally a 1-4 or 2.5-7 would be my choice . 3-9 Bushnell banner or trophy xlt would be a decent cheaper choice or the vortex crossfire or viper
