Hi. Who makes a nice single action revolver in .357 with a 5 1/2" barrel? I am totally surprised Ruger does not. There must be a reason. Thanx for help, tk

The vaquero line is about the best sa revolver you can get. Ive got a pair of them in 45colt/45acp and they are simply fantastic. Highly highly highly recommend the vaquero line.

I really liked my Ruger Blackhawk 4-5/8" barrel. Now my son really likes it.

Yep; might have to compromise on the barrel length. Shorter, not longer. Thanx, tk

I've used a 4 5/8" Ruger Blackhawk for over fifty years, never a moment's regret.

As to Blackhawk vs. Vaquero, the Blackhawk has adjustable sights, which not only allow easier sighting-in, but a better sight picture as well.

I have two 4 5/8 inch Blackhawks. A NM and an unconverted OM. I like the trigger much better on the Old Model. Both are great guns.

I have several SA Rugers they are built like tanks.

It is hard to conceal a single action Ruger. I have no problem sticking my Ruger Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel in my pants. It is not an EDC but if the threat is elevated either my Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk is the gun I want in my hand. They will go bang no matter what!

The Pietta Model 1873 comes in. 357. And they have come a long way. Quality has gone way up in the last few years.

    nice .357 single action

Colt (see website) makes their classic gun in .357 -- probably hard to get -- they always seem to be back-ordered. Uberti in Italy makes quality Colt replicas with the Colt-like "4-click" hammer-- imported by Taylors (in Virginia --see website), among many others. Leaving aside the history, etc., many people would say Ruger's Blackhawk is the weapon of choice for heavy duty work, with the Vaquero equally well regarded in a lighter, more traditional gun.
