.460 rowland for xdm

    I just started reading about this .460 rowland and thought it would be something fun to do for my xdm .45 other than the barrel will i need to get a new spring to handle the higher recoil?

    Yes. I would not recommend the .460 in anything but a quality forged steel frame

    I have fired the X frame a few times. The recoil is not that horrific but the X frame is considerably heavier than a XDM. It will likely end up like the Glock 32 I bought. The 18 OZ gun gun did not flatter the 357 sig. I can shoot a revolver just as fast. That was my first and last experience with a Glock. When I bought my Ruger P95 I had ever intention of buying a Glock 17. After a firing a P95 a few times I bought it.

    There is a kit for the xd/xdm for 460. Everything ive read the xdm makes a better host than the 1911.

    I just wouldnt use any host gun as a carry piece with or without the kit installed. The battering a gun frame and parts take from that monster round is huge. Would be a bad time for stress failure when you need it most.

    Ok thanks....ya my glock 17 is my carry weapon so that point is covered im thinking about just getting a 1911 for the conversion any brands you guys would recomened i dont have any experience with 1911s

    i would go xd/xdm if your going to do a 460 conversion. ive got a 1911 460 and i really wish i knew of the xdm kit before getting it. the xdm 45 is a more pleasent shooter in 45acp than a 1911 and i would imagine the same is true of the 460. then top it off with mags at 13+1 vs 7+1...
