I'm about to add my first 45auto, likely in 1911 form. I'll probably end up ordering some defense ammo shortly, and I'm completely undecided as to what I'll buy. I realize this is a personal decision and most of the options out there are more than sufficient. But I'd like to hear some opinions of those more experienced than myself....like choosing between 185gr, 200gr, 200+P, 230gr, 230+P. So I'd like to know what 45acp defense ammo you use, and why. Example: For 9mm I prefer Winchester Rangers, 127gr +P+. It feeds flawlessly in both of my nines and I think it possesses an ideal balance of weight and velocity (1200+fps) for a full-framed pistol. Internet research also implies that it is one of the deepest penetrating 9mm defense rounds available, though it might be less manageable in smaller, lighter pistols. Any info or experiences are appreciated.
