    its a little shorter
due to a design flaw with glock chambers sometimes the unsurported section of cases go pop so the case head area is thicker just ahead of the rim.
glock uses it as a marketing tool.
    ballistically identical to 45acp
    its waaaaay more pricey

    thats about it.

    personal opinion:
i see no point to it. there are better guns than glocks for putting 45acp downrange.

Biggest difference is cost and availability. If you do not reload, stay away from GAP. Since you are asking, I bet you better stay with ACP, a gun w/o ammo is just a paper weight. (sorry can't resist). :D

Not a dumb question at all-
But i agree with the above-
Around my little piece of Earth the 45gap is hard to find-
    Stick with the 45acp- -
ITS EVERYWHERE YOU WANT TO BE

45ACP costs enough, skip the oddball.

I have a Springfield XD45 in 45ACP; it serves my tupperware .45 caliber cravings just fine; please consider it an option. :)

.45 ACP because it was designed by John Moses Browning.

The other one was designed by a hardware salesman.

The GAP was designed so that it would provide ACP performance in a "standard 9mm/.40 length frame. It's "dying on the vine" and will die out all together in another 5-10 years. I'd REALLY recommend the ACP over the GAP.

Take a poll on it, and I guarantee 45ACP will win. SUBSTANTIALLY!

IF you want a 45 auto, stick with ACP.

Glock Automatic Pistol sounds cooler, cause it is Glock.

The .45 GAP and the SIG 357 are novelty rounds and belong in the circus. They have no use in every day practicality.

Anybody who would rather own something called Glock Automatic Pistol than Automatic Colt Pistol deserves it.

The GAP is a better choice than the ACP if you...

-enjoy "the hunt" when it comes to tracking down ammo
-prefer to pay more for a round that by its own claim, mimics ACP performance
-wish to minimize the resale potential of your firearm
-aren't deterred by the threat of impending obsolescence

The GAP will perform fine. It's just a heavy price to pay simply to "be different". Go 45ACP every time.

Well everyone I thank you for all the information!!! It sounds pretty clear that the ACP would be the road I need to travel down. It will also be a carry gun (forgot to mention that) So since I am on the subject what would be a good "practice" round in 45acp and a good "defense" round?? I would like HP for my defense rounds!!:D

Practice with FMJ's, and use HP's or frangibles for defense.
I usually keep my .45's loaded with Extreme Shock EPR frangible, or Federal Hydra Shok HP's.
There are a lot of good choices out there for defense ammo, you'll just have to try some out and see what you (and your gun) like the best.

Practice with the same weight FMJ as the HP you're going to carry. Be SURE to run your selected HPs thrrough your gun to ensure they'll feed (at least a box or 2). I like Gold Dots or Hornady's Critical Defense but almost any modern HP will perform great.

The .45 GAP is the answer to a question that was never asked.

Already been well expressed is the GAP round at best will be a Glock collectable in fifty years. Just not a round most would chose.
