In ballistic terms, what is the .45 GAP like and how does it compare to the mighty .45 ACP?

I'm also interested in a getting feedback on .50AE upgrade for a Glock21, if anyone has knowledge/experience with it!

Its ballistically identical to the 45acp. Glock came out with it because glock 45 barrels have severely undersupported chambers. Instead of fixing the design flaw they chose to market their version of the 45acp with a thicker base.

The 45 gap casing is 1/8 of an inch shorter then the 45 acp

That too. That cartridge is purely glock marketing in action.

The .45gap is the .45acp's basterd stepchild. It tried to walk in daddys shoes but couldnt do it. Ive personally shot one and i was not impressed at all.

The gap, having a smaller case, is measurably less powerful than the 45acp there are no advantages only drawbacks. Seems to be glocks calling in life

Woody, that picture's set up "wrong" from what I can tell. The 45 gap is a little further back, I THINK. I'm probably wrong and if so... HOLY CRAP that's a small 45. Lol

A 50 AE will not fit in a Glock 21, or any other Glock pistol. It is too long. You may be thinking of the 50GI. I do not know much about it.

You might be right about the .50GI, i just know there's a drop-in barrel/magazine kit to switch G21 to a .50 caliber, quite possibly .50GI.

The rounds have similar ballistics, for all intents identical....look at the load manuals. The reason it was created was the shorter round can be used in a shorter gripped gun! The original 21 has a fat grip, the 21SF slightly mitigates this problem. But the GAP makes the grip frame almost the same as a 19 or 22. The bitch is if you are loading ACP's and you get some of that short sh!t mixed in your brass! And that small primer "lead free" brass......don't get me started! 50 GI.....here you go! http://www.guncrafterindustries.com/sneakpreview.shtml

EDIT: I dont think said drop-in kit would fit lenght-wise in a 21sf anyways, remains to be seen.
