Does anybody know where I can get some cheap .45 cal ammo for my 1911? I'm trying to become a trooper with the Indiana State Police and I would like to do a lot of target shooting to hone my skills. Can't seem to find anything under $18.00 a box for 20 rounds. I would prefer to use FMJ for practice and keep my hollow points for carrying. I found a box of 50 GI spec FMJs once for $9.00 but can't seem to find a deal like that again.

Good luck on working toward your goal

Is .45 ACP what our state troopers use? How 'bout their service weapon?

Just curious

I'm going to search for some links on your topic and I'll post back here with an edit or a new post.

EDIT: Not finding the sites I thought had the stuff before

Is Blazer an option for you? I read (no experience with the it) that Blazer has some inexpensive FMJ that people say is good for target and general practice shooting.

The .45 people here will surely respond on this topic.

DG,
unfortunately the days of 9 buck .45 are gone, but you should be able to find FMJ for 15-20 a box depending. Last batch I bought was blazer brass, paid 12 a box at walmart. But that was 6 months ago and I have since sworn off walmart. Don't think they have Academy in IN, Bass Pro and Cabelas don't have very good prices, but they will have the FMJ for sure.
good luck

This is some of the best .45 acp I've put through my pistols; I've been buying from Georgia Arms for almost twenty five years in over 9 different calibers. They also take in empty brass for credit. Give them a call or email them if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help too. The ammo cans come with the order.

thanx 4 the good luck

Actually our troopers use the glock 17 (9mm) but i don't have a 9. I'll shoot any brand I get my hands on, I bought some .45 fmj american eagle last night at wal-mart for $21, up from $18 three months ago. A friend of mine is a state trooper and he gave me 600 rounds of 9 mil a few months ago. I bowwored my dad's Ruger P89 and shot it all up, got pretty good.
