Cliff notes version: the CVA doesn't particularly like this bullet. It does like the 300gr XTP's.

    Primers: CCI 350
    Brass: new Winchester cases
    COAL: 1.602"
    Projectiles: Hornady 180gr XTP
    Powder: H110
    Range: 100 yards

    29.0: 5"
    29.3: 2.75"
    29.6: N/A
    29.9: 3.75"
    30.2: 2.25"
    30.5: 3.65"
30.8: 4 of 5 were 2.59", the 5th might have been me taking the group to 6"
    31.4: 5"

Going in, I knew my CVA prefers the 300 gr over 240 gr, so the poor 180 gr results weren't a surprise. Although groups approaching 4" are not impressive, at 150 yards, it's still suitable for deer, albeit the bullets have a poor SD. Now... what to do with the rest of the 180's...

I love load testing for some odd reason, maybe it's that I get to shoot more...;)

Same. I like to tinker and play too. I looked at the median, and it came out to 3.65". If I change the questionable group to 6", the median becomes 3.75". I like using statistical tools, and shooting groups gives me data to play with.

As an aside, I took the CVA hunting today and shot a doe with some 300gr XTP's at ~60 yards. She dropped in her tracks. It was a clean pass through, and the exit wound substantial.

Congrats on the deer! I have 200 grain XTP loaded for my super blackhawk. I carry it for if i get a close up shot.
