It will be my first ever handgun / 1911! I am so stoked! I only paid about 850.00 including tax for a brand spanking new one because they accidentally thought It was a mil spec... It's a springer 1911 45 ACP parkerized loaded. I can't wait any more longer.. Someone help me during this crisis lol. Also give me some tips and hints for what I need to do!

look up different grip styles and figure out which works best for you, also practice dry firing to get your trigger control right

What does dry firing exactly mean? Shooting without live ammo?

Triple check the gun is unloaded.

Pull the hammer back and practice pulling the trigger.

Read the manual and follow the instructions on cleaning and oiling. You only need a couple of drops. Over oiling a 1911 is as bad as under oiling.

I have one also, but in stainless. Buy 500-600 rounds to break it in, shooting 100 at a time and clean it. Get some break free oil and lube it lightly after cleaning it, then repeat the process until you get at least 500 put through it. Do not get discouraged if it doesn't shoot a tight pattern at first, it will tighten up. It might be a good idea to buy an extra recoil spring(Wilson combat 22-24 lbs.). If they are still building them like mine then the slide will be really tight on the frame and should have an air gauged stainless steal barrel. Make sure the guide rod is in tight, it tends to get loose during shooting(might want look into getting a 1 piece or an old school GI style spring system(GI style is better in my opinion because it less crap to go wrong, and Springfield put the GI style on the mc operator for a reason, it's battle tested). Springfield makes the best 1911s, wise choice. Ask if you have any questions.

Shoot the first 300-500 rounds of 230 gr ball.

Don't introduce JHP's or any other PD ammo until it's broken-in and running flawlessly.

If you're gonna dry fire a lot, you might wanna invest in a snap cap.

I would use 230 ball for all 500, that's just me. My old man taught an old army acronym BRASS.

I don't like the Relax part cause some guns don't function or cycle proper unless you hold it stiff.

I don't know how good parkerizing is, you might want to get your gun cerakoted.
