    -------------------------

our second ftf shoot was a success. so by popular demand and for the ones who couldnt come in oct, im offering it again in apr. start planning now!

i enjoy bringing cyber posters together to share something in common, shooting! being retired military, i have a lot of free time to devote to my passion, shotguns and people. i enjoy it so much, that i bought this abandoned range a few years ago, just to have people come out and learn to shoot. it also gives the locals something to do after those long hard days on the farm. i live in va.. so i only visit up to mo. twice a year. so i'd like to offer you all a chance to come meet me at my place for a great little getaway which i promise will be worth your time.
i use to shoot on the navy shooting team, rifle, pistol, and shotgun. i was on the world champion navy skeet team that won gold in san antonio back in the 90's. i know the game.
to make your visit to the ftf meet worth the trip, im offering free instruction and coaching to all that sign up.
i prefer it to be 'bring your own shotgun and ammo,' but if you dont have either, i will ensure some will be here for you to borrow. and too, others will surely bring some to loan as well.
i will open my clubhouse for free as well.
it has a kitchen, so anyone is welcome to use it to cook. i cant cook for you guys....i'll be teaching on the range, so if you want to bbq or eat grub, bring your own food and cook it yourselves.
the range parking lot is big enough for campers. i dont have sewage, but i do have electricity and water hookups. bring your extention cords and hoses. so if you want to bring a camper to save on motels, feel free. pitch a tent too if youd like.
i dont have a real gas bbq grill, i only have an old girl scout pit, so someone will need to bring one if they want to grill.
the clubhouse is knotty pine, has running water, toilet, heat and ac.

weather is always the stick in the mud, so we all really do need to plan this as a weekend event. banking on one day is a gamble. so plan it as a weekend getaway and enjoy some of the sites around here if it rains on 19 apr. if you can get here friday, it will give us wiggle room. if you leave monday morning, even better. but i understand most of you must return for work.tickets are 50.00. the reason you get tickets in advance is i must order targets by the pallet. a pallet of targets is 1 ton and costs approx 650.00. it needs to be ordered a month in advance to be on site for the shoot. as you can see, if only 5 come, im out almost 400.00 with targets sitting. this is why im trying to get 10 guys to come to these meets. it makes the pain less. so kick around ftf and see who else you can get to come.
    bring 10 boxes of shells.
as you can see, with the costs going to targets, the match and trophy is free.
this match is designed for beginners to get a feel for the sport on a budget. of course if you can shoot, come as well! but to ensure there are no ringers, the top score must shoot against me in the last event if they want to win; because, i shoot in proxy for last place. if i win, last place wins the match. so dont be scared away over a match. its a lot of fun.
so get out there in the ftf forums and send people this direction.

i have to decide how we will do this.... if the ones who've done this already need to come on their own day or own weekend? if we lock in the next match with people who've been here already....it makes no room for new guys wanting to learn. we need to discuss this.
do we need to have a prepaid shooter weekend meet AND another weekend for new shooters? i dont mind. let me hear your ideas.
or...since some of you shot already...come saturday or sunday and have range 1 to yourselves?

Wife and I each have a vote for a two-day weekend event. Everyone is there Saturday morning and ready to rock! Even when not shooting, there is a whole lot of fun to be had in the Club House and interacting with others.

Gotta do the steak house Saturday night, but I'll get a heckuva bonfire going to cook over Sunday!

remember, sunday cant start shooting until noon due to noise and church near by.
do i hear votes for making it a 2 day weekend? 19-20 april?
maybe the locals like rockratt can shoot on sunday so the ones coming farthest can be on their way back home sunday?

i will need 9am to noon sunday to recover from saturday!

Depending on how many show it probably need's to be a 2 day event. Like you said that gives an extra day incase of rain. April is one of the wettest months in this part of the world. I could shoot Sunday afternoon or some I am sure will be taking vac. to come in and if they wanted to shoot on Friday I could take a vac. day and do that as well??

I stayed in Missouri until Monday so I'm sure in April I'll make it a long weekend, too. I could shoot either day.

    ok..its official. 2 day event.

    saturday:
    9am:
    1. windsofchange
    2. geobob
    3. dennis
    4.
    5.

    1pm:
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

    sunday:
    12 noon:
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

    5pm
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

im going to leave the 1pm squad on saturday for NEW SHOOTERS.
instead of chasing down all the no shows all over creation, if i dont hear from them, im not filling in slots. only names that go in are ones that contact me. if a new shooter gets a ticket before a no show reserves a seat, tuff luck. i aint holding up progress with someone who cant make up their minds in 6 months.
sorry, if i sound rude. but thats the way it goes.

rock, you come anytime you want. if youd like to be around those you now know, come. if youd like to meet some new guys, come.
look over the list above and let me know where to put you.
as you know, it snowed 4"'s here the day after the meet in march! march is windy. we had 30mph winds during the meet. so to miss snow and wind, i picked april. wet? yep, but its a month before tornado season. so i say we stick with april.

If it is ok with you we will just wait till it gets closer and see where you might need me. It really doesn't matter to me. Old new friends, new old friends I'm good either way. We had snow in May this past year which had never happened before. It could be anything that time of year. Spring in the Ozarks is almost as good as fall. Just have to be on your toe's dodge a tornado. Do I send you money and get a new ticket or just send the money and use the old?????

im thinking of a way to shoot all 5 games with less time.
as you guys know, by 5 games 1/2 of you guys were dead tired.
heck, 10 games and im just warming up.

but, if we combine doc adams and poor mans 5 stand (a vanzant original term) we can get all 6 games done in 5.

i say we shoot trap, skeet, int skeet, doc adams the first half to station 4, then poor mans 5 stand the rest of the way. looking at the scores, i dont think you guys would be missing anything. then everyone shoots annie oakley.
