Ok, so who makes an upper in .338 Federal anymore? I want one for deer and bear, and maybe even close range elk hunting.

What configuration AR-10 do you have?

Here is a company I have no experience with that is producing a DPMS compatible one.

Did you want to just purchase an upper to have on hand for those applications? Or did you want to consider changing over to that caliber on a more perm basis?

On a perm basis you can probably have the barrel changed with a .338 Federal compatible one, blue printed and head spaced by a "certified gunsmith" for a lot cheaper than $1000.
