I'm look to buy a new rifle in one of these calibers. I want a round that has enough power to take any game in North America but still be fun at the range. Ive shot 308 win and a 300 weatherby but never a 300 win. I know a 300 weatherby kicks like a son of a bitch what about 300 win. What would you pick?

I'd go with the 308 personally. It's a more common round and ammo can be found anywhere. Plus, it will handle anything legal to hunt in North America.

Well both are great calibers, but most 300 WM's will have way more recoil than the 308.Plus the price of ammo is quite a bit higher for the 300WM.

I don't have a 308,but several friends do and I have shot them. I like the 300 WM and have a couple along with the old faithful 30/06. Any of those three calibers will take almost any game in North America.

Between the two I'd go for the .308. How about 30-06? It's a good compromise between the two.

the .308 will do the job in North America with the right bullett. less recoil will also assure a better shot, making a more effective choice. I am 55, have no use for the magnums, wsms etc. unless you are a lemming and just got to go with the crowd. .308 ammo is sort of abundant nowadays compared toa few weeks ago. the magnums and wsms will put a hurt on your wallett. just some advice from an old hunter with no sore shoulder, good accuracy and not a lemming.:)
