The conventional wisdom is that the Military 5.56 has a higher chamber pressure than the civilian .223. While the round will fit the chamber and go bang, you are running a risk. If you have a 5.56 chamber, you can run the lower pressure .223 civilian version without much danger, you will just see an accuracy difference.is that right ? should i not be using 5.56 in my .223 all appears ok ?
OK the point goes to you .They DID standardize the rounds- but they are 2 DIFFERENT rounds.
they are exactly the same as far as the 223 and 556. They only difference is the fact that the military is trying to make up for size and weight by increasing velocity.OK the point goes to you .
Let me rephrase the question , does anyone know why they didn't decide on one of the two rounds and simply discontinue the other ?
