I am not very huge on guns to start... I received this gun from my granpa a few years back and I found out it was a 303 british rifle I think... I got 303 ammo and shot it etc and it worked and shot like a angel so I guess it has to be lol. Anyways trying to find out how old it is where its from etc... I'll list some stuff i find on it... Would be awesome for some help! ( I am hopeless lol )

    Side - England PB 2510

    Side - F.T.R with a B under it

Barrel says: SANTA FE SPECIAL, SANTA FE DIV. GOLDEN STATE ARMS CORP. PASADENA CALIFORNIA, U.S.A

I have tried looking for the serial # but I come up empty and dunno where to find it or look for it???

Any help and info would be greatly appreciated!!

Also uploaded pic if it helps, TY.

its was rebarreled when it was sporterized. the date should be X/XX format over the trigger left hand side of the reciever. no collector value due to the sporterizing :(

Possibly a No.4 Mk I . This was the standard military rifle of the British Empire statrting about 1943. The FTR- B indicates Factory Thorough Repair- meaning it went thru what us Yanks would call a depot level rebuild. I THINK at the Birmingham (that's yer B) arsenal. At some later time, it was "sporterized"- stock and metal changed over to the style of a civilian sporting rifle. Serial number SHOULD be on left side of the frame. California name and address is the firm that imported it into the US- as is now required by law.

There were many "Santa Fe" carbines made. Some were Mas36 carbines, some were No4, and others Mk3No1's. Your was repaired At the Indian arsenal. PB and FTR.
