Can't find anyone who makes these!

Anyone know where 30 mm scope extension/offset Ruger mount type rings low can be found?

No one that ive ever heard of.

What are you trying to do??

Ruger's weird scope mounting is a big reason ive never purchased a m77 action.

I would suggest emailing ruger. If it exists they will almost certainly know and it cant hurt asking them. They tend to go above and beyound on customer service.

Of course someone here may know as well

I'm mounting a Bushnell AR 223 1x4 24 mm scope on my Mini 14. (I tried a Nikon 3x too.) I'm using some excellent medium Warne QD rings but the brand of rings are not the problem. It is impossible to get the scope mounted as far rearward as it needs to be, due to the constraints inherent in scope design. This present setup is doable but another half inch or so would be perfect. On mounting this scope, I also discovered that low rings would be doable and would give a more natural cheek weld. It may require removing the year iron sight but that's no problem. Why not get it perfect?

Ruger makes 1" offset rings but not 30mm. I've scoured the web, to no avail.

If I can't get an answer here, I'll call Ruger on Monday. Thanks for the suggestion.

i dunno about the rings, but i'll do some looking.

one thought...can you incorporate your picatinny rail with standard off set rings?

on another thought? what a bout a stock change/adjustment? you could switch to an older style curved butt wood stock (which i love) as they are much shorter than the standard poly stock. also, and you probably don't wanna hear this, but a pistol grip stock w/ an adjustable butt stock would be an option as well.

other than that, i'd suggest selling this scope and getting a scout style scope for use with your rail?

just throwing out ideas....sorry if i'm wasting your time.

BOOM! i think i got your fix. :) of course i am hesitant to recommend after your warne rings didn't work out.

it gets sketchy reviews (ncstar doesn't have the best rep), but i have this mount on my AR and it has been solid for me. it is a really flexible mounting piece for the price. you can off set the rings, adjust the spacing, and its QD. i would think it will work with your rail.

i'll try it on my new mini to see if it fits (but sorry, i ain't gonna change the ring set up ;))....too lazy for that).

for 29.99, worth a shot imo....if it fails, return it.

well, it will definitely work. and the back ring can be reversed to get the desired off set. :) but the set up will not be low. :(

Hawk, you're never wasting my time. ;) I'll look at these options. Of course, I already tried too high. Somehow or another, I want it as low as possible and back enough. I may have to go back to the rail with the lowest standard offset rings I can find. I do like having the scope weight over the action rather than forward like a scout setup.

I'm athinkin' on it. :banghead:

OK... I decided the solution with the most flexibility is to ditch this scope and go with a similar but 1" tubed scope instead. So, I went and got a Leupold VX Hog 1x4 20mm, which has a 1" tube. I'll try the 1" Ruger rings that came with the rifle. I can swap them to Ruger for the 1" offset, if need be.

NOW, I HAVE TOO MANY SCOPES, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I've had them too long to return them. I'll have to try and sell the others on here or on Texas Gun Trader.

I'll post again when I get this new scope mounted...

    Here is the new one...

dang that sucks about your scope dilemma! the first scope i tried out on my mini worked ok, but imo...never fit the rifle right (too big) and i have to sell it at a slight loss......live and learn.

now...i research scopes like crazy, but that is still no guarantee. i always take out and mount a scope practically the day i get it, and then see if it is what i think it should be. if its not, i send it back.

i went through this with my AR as well. i researched a scope i thought would be perfect, then i got and realized i didn't like anything about it. i sent that baby back at no charge. the scope i settled on, i like most things about it, but it still isn't what i'd call "perfect."

here is one more you might consider. good price, good reviews. nice, compact 1-3 scope, 1" tube. kinda wish i had tried for my AR. though its hard to go wrong with leupold from what i here.

here is pic of that weaver mounted on a mini i found. looks like a good amount of wiggle room to slide it back. look like it might work with your warne rings. if not, the off set rings would work.

are you going to hunt me down if another of my ideas fails?

No, I'll let ya' slide, Hawk. It's been my choice of scopes all along and the Warne QD rings are just fine. :D

That Weaver looks very similar to this Leupold I got today. They do have a good reputation. It lists for $289 on the company web site but I got it at Academy for $229. Not bad at all. It seems to capture more light than the Bushnell and I like the Hog Plex reticle. And it has a nice long eye relief. That and the 1" tube and I think it's going to be a good fit.

well, that choice probably saved your life....have i told you how dangerous i am on the internet? ;)

for that price, the leupold seems like the right choice. i kinda wish i had picked up on that one for my AR....:(

show us when you get er set up again..btw, know where i can get some cheap, lightly used scopes? :p

    Hey Hawk,

Well, they're all lightly used as in having been briefly mounted and unmounted, never fired with or even been out of the house. All but NIB. Got them all at Academy.

I'd let the EO Tech 512 go for $350. It's $429 at Academy now but I'm pretty sure I paid $411 plus tax for it. It must have been on sale. I have the receipt, anyway. I bought it in late November. Original box included.

I'd let the Bushnell AR223 1-4 24mm, 30mm tube, go for $150. I think I paid $199 plus tax for it. I have the receipt. I could use this one on my AR but I have the Aimpoint for that so I don't need it. I bought it since the EO Tech. Original box included.

I also have the Nikon P-223 3x32 BDC Carbine Rifle Scope. I'd let it go for $100. I paid $149 plus tax for it. For $130, I'd throw in the Nikon P series mounts that are made for it. I gave $49 plus tax for that. These two I bought in September, I think. Im not sure if I still have the box and receipt or not for the scope.

I'd let go of the Warne Maxima Ruger QD Max Medium 30mm rings set for $65. I gave $90 plus tax and shipping for these on Amazon. These I got for the Bushnell and are great rings, as you know.

Let me know what you think about any or all. I'll give you first crack at it all but, otherwise, it's all for sale, same prices, to first come, after you.

Got the Leopold VX-Hog easily mounted on the Mini 14! With the longer eye relief, this one is just right for me. And a better fit on the rifle, too. These are medium Ruger rings. I'm going to get the low Ruger rings and use them instead to lower it down. Then it will really be perfect. ;)

When I get these other scopes sold, I am planning to do the same setup on the Mini 30.

i've always wanted an eotech though. maybe i can sell my sperm, plasma, and blood & put a down payment on it? lmao...just kiddin...what does a kidney fetch these days?

thanks for giving me a first shot, but i'm afraid i HAVE TO pass at this moment.

You're welcome. I expect that EOTech will go pretty quickly when I post it.

The Ruger Warnes are for a 30mm tube and this new Leopold is a 1" tube. I also discovered I have a set of 1" Warne QD rings but they are picatinny. What did I buy those for? :what: They're for sale too.

how much do you want for the dog? ;)

that makes sense. forgot they were 30MM. well, i would consider getting some 1" QD rings once you sell the other sets. in the long run, i think you'll be happier for it. QD rings are almost priceless over the action of the mini imo. but maybe your ruger rings will do a good job of holding zero after removal, worth testing it out.

are you going to keep the scout rail?

The dog is priceless and not for sale, ha ha!

I'm keeping the scout rails on both. They add quite a bit of flexibility and just plain look good to me.
