Recoil of a 30-06 is more related to the type action, stock design and weight of the rifle then who manufactured the rifle. Action type, typically a semi automatic action will produce less recoil then a bolt, pump or single shot action rifle because some of the energy is utilized to function the action.

Weight of the rifle will impact the amount of recoil. A heavy rifle will have more weight to soak up the recoil and transmit less to your shoulder. So a 7.5 pound Remington, Savage, Ruger, etc. will produce less recoil then a 6 pound Ultra Light Arms 30-06.

Stock design and fit will have an impact on felt recoil. A stock with the correct fit and length of pull for a shooter will be more comfortable to shoot because there is more of your body in contact with the rifle to absorb recoil. A stock that is straighter, less "drop" to the stock will not tend to rise up as much under recoil and not smack the cheek and be more comfortable to shoot.

In the 50's and 60's when the government was selling 03 Springfields for the exorbitant price of about $10.00 I can remember people saying how they would "smack the snot out of you" and that was a fairly heavy 06 with a poor stock design. I will go out on a limb and say that most manufacturers today have pretty good stock design, good recoil pads and an 06 weighing in at 7.5 pounds should not be a problem for a relatively inexperienced shooter.
