I am thinking about getting another cal besides the 30-06 Springfield. Out of these three cals what would yall get for hunting in North America: 30-06, 338 Winchester Mag, or 300 Winchester Mag

Your biggest gain if you want something besides your 30-06 would be the .338 mag but it will only be really useful if your game will include elk and bigger class animals and maybe some bear hunting in Alaska. If you already have a 30-06 and most of your hunting is in Alabama I would consider going down to a .243 or a 25-06 for your next gun so you have something that will reach out there easier/flater and will give you something to use for varmints to deer size game.

I have all the above listed calibers. My favorite is the 300. Works well on western big game. Never failed.

I use two different loads, 150 gr. that's at about 3200 and the 180 gr. at about 3000 fps.

From what Ive read the 300 goes farther, faster, and has more knock-down power when it reaches its target than the 30-06.

Why will it only be useful for elk and larger animals? Why not deer? I have also narrowed it down to two rounds: the .338 Winchester Magnum and the .300 Winchester Magnum. I am buying a Savage but they dont make a gun chambered in .338 Winchester Magnum with accustock. Does it really matter if the gun has accustock or not? Would it make it more accurate if it had accustock?

.338 is fine for deer but they are not specially tough to kill so I would not subject myself to the recoil of a .338 WinMag unless I really needed the horsepower for larger game. As a matter of fact even the 30-06 is more gun than what you need for deer when a nice easy shooting 7mm-08, .243, .257 Roberts will flatten them every time without ruining a ton of meat in the process. But hey everyone is different...

No the non accustock is fine also its for hunting I assume, the savage is a damn fine shooter, the accustock is better fitted for target shooters imho

I've got all three and I wouldn't think of shooting a Texas whitetail with my 338 Win Mag. Probably not even my 300 Win Mag. Heck my 30-06 with 165 gr at 100 yards spun my last whitetail around twice in his tracks before dropping him. Went clean through. Didn't damage much meat at all and I can only imagine that either of the Mag's would have just gone through him quicker. Nothing at all to gain IMHO. Plus most shots around here are 100 - 200 yards unless you go way out in the west Texas plains, I guess. Or antelope hunting. Don't know about Alabama whitetails so maybe you grow them the size of small elk. Don't get me wrong. I love power but a 30-06 is plenty for whitetails at typical ranges. But get what you like.

The 300 win nag shoots flatter than the 338 makes it more accurate. It all depends on the shooter to

I will probably get the 338. Do yall know if Savage still makes the Model 11/111 FXP3 in 338 Winchester magnum? I can not find it any where online for sale.
    Thanks for the help,
    Charlie

Charlie,Instead of buying another complete rifle, you could just buy a 338WM barrel and change out the bolt head on the 30/06,and have everything you want in just one rifle.
On a Savage, you can swap barrels out in just a few minutes with an Action wrench and a barrel nut wrench. You can just change the bolt head out to the correct size,or buy another bolt set up for the 338WM.
Or you could get a 338-06 barrel, and then the barrel is all that you would need to change on the rifle, but you would need to load your own ammo, resizing the necks for .338 bullets.
